Autism-Specific Employment Support for People of All Ages
We’re pleased to share that our Inclusive Employment Australia Autism Specific Program is now available to eligible autistic people of all ages.
Whether you're preparing for your first job, returning to the workforce, looking for a change or wanting support to maintain and grow in your current employment, we're here to support you.
Our focus isn't simply on finding any job. It's about working towards meaningful and sustainable employment that is a good fit for you.

Employment support built around you
Every person is different.
You bring your own strengths, skills, interests, experiences and ways of working. That's why employment support shouldn't be one-size-fits-all approach.
Our autism-specific approach is strengths-based and neuro-affirming. We take the time to understand you, what matters to you and what you would like to achieve through employment.
Together, we can explore:
Your strengths, interests and skills
The types of work that interest you
Work environments that may suit you
Your employment and career goals
Skills you would like to develop
Support or workplace adjustments that may help you thrive
What meaningful employment looks like for you
You are an active part of planning your employment pathway.
Preparing for work at your pace
Being ready for employment can mean different things to different people.
You might be ready to start applying for jobs now. You might want to build your confidence first. You may need help identifying the kind of work you would enjoy, or you may already have considerable workplace experience and be ready for something new.
Depending on your goals, our support can include:
Personalised career and employment planning
Identifying strengths and transferable skills
Resume and application support
Interview preparation
Training and skill development
Building workplace confidence
Work experience and workplace preparation
Connecting with suitable employers
Job coaching
Support with workplace adjustments
Ongoing support once you're employed
The aim is to create an employment pathway that reflects your goals, your strengths and your circumstances.
Your experience matters
Autism-specific employment support isn't only for people entering the workforce for the first time.
You may already have years of employment experience.
Perhaps you're looking for a workplace that better aligns with your strengths. You may want to change careers, increase your hours, develop new skills or find a role where you have greater opportunities to grow.
Your existing skills and experience are valuable.
We can work alongside you to recognise those strengths and consider how they could contribute to your next employment opportunity.
Finding work is only part of the journey
A positive employment outcome is about more than starting a job. It’s about finding the right opportunity and having the support to succeed over time.
We work alongside you to find, maintain and keep a job that reflects your strengths, interests and goals.
Support can continue after you start work, helping you become familiar with your workplace, build confidence and develop skills in your role. Where needed, we can also support workplace communication, explore reasonable adjustments and work alongside you and your employer to help create an environment where you can thrive.
Our focus is on long term employment — supporting you to use your strengths, develop your skills and continue working towards your goals.

Working alongside employers
Inclusive employment also means working with employers.
Southern Community Options builds relationships with local employers to help create workplaces where autistic employees have opportunities to thrive.
With the participant's involvement and consent, this can include helping employers understand individual strengths and support needs, considering workplace adjustments and providing support as a new employee settles into their role.
By working with both jobseekers and employers, we can help create stronger employment matches and more sustainable outcomes.
Local support, connected to community
Southern Community Options is part of the communities we serve.
We provide autism-specific employment support across Adelaide's southern suburbs, the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula, including Seaford, McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor.
Our local approach allows us to build relationships with jobseekers, families, employers and community organisations and identify opportunities within the communities where people live.
A new employment pathway can begin at any age
There is no single pathway into employment.
You may be starting out.
You may be starting again.
Or you may simply be ready for something different.
What's important is finding an employment pathway that recognises who you are, what you can contribute and what you want to achieve.
Through Inclusive Employment Australia, eligible participants can receive tailored support to prepare for, find and stay in the workforce, with support available to help people continue developing in their careers.
