Bayden Turns Opportunity into Success

For Bayden, finding the right job was more than securing employment. It was about finding an opportunity where he could demonstrate his abilities, build on his skills and become a valued member of a workplace team.

After previously working behind the scenes in a warehouse role, Bayden found himself looking for a new opportunity when the warehouse closed late last year.

Rather than allowing the setback to stop his progress, he remained focused on finding ongoing employment and developing his skills.

That determination has now paid off, with Bayden securing a position as a Retail Assistant at Foodland Port Noarlunga South.

After interviewing for the role and successfully completing a two-day work trial, Bayden commenced employment in July. He is now averaging around 20 hours of work each week and has received positive feedback from his colleagues.

For Bayden, one of the most rewarding parts of the experience has been feeling welcomed and valued as a member of the Foodland team.

Bayden's employment journey has included support through Southern Community Options' - Inclusive Employment Australia program. The support focused on Bayden's individual employment goals, including strengthening his resume and cover letter, preparing for opportunities and connecting with employers.

But it was Bayden who took the opportunity and made it his own.

His willingness to put himself forward, perform strongly at interview and demonstrate what he could bring to the workplace during his trial helped turn an employment opportunity into a job.

Now established in his role, Bayden is looking ahead to what comes next as he builds his future.
