Reilly's Skills Shine in New Community Role
There is something rewarding about finding a workplace where your skills are recognised and you have the opportunity to become part of the team.
For Reilly, that place has been Christie Downs Community House.
Since joining the organisation as an Office Administration Assistant in April, Reilly has settled into working more than 15 hours each week and has become an integral part of the community centre.
The role marks an important achievement for Reilly, who had been looking for an opportunity to establish himself and contribute his strengths in the workplace.
With a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Visual Effects and Entertainment Design already behind him, Reilly brought existing skills and knowledge to his employment journey. What he needed was the opportunity to gain further workplace experience and show an employer what he could offer.
Volunteering at the Salvation Army in Morphett Vale became part of that process, providing Reilly with valuable experience while he continued looking for paid employment.
When an administration position became available at Christie Downs Community House, Reilly decided to put himself forward.

He impressed at interview and secured the position — an opportunity he has embraced ever since.
As the weeks have passed, those around Reilly have seen his confidence grow as he has become increasingly established in his role and within the community centre.
Southern Community Options has supported Reilly through Inclusive Employment Australia, providing mentoring and practical employment support when needed, including assistance with his resume and cover letter.
The achievement, however, belongs to Reilly.
Reilly embraced each opportunity to gain experience, build his confidence and demonstrate his strengths, ultimately earning his place at Christie Downs Community House.
Today, he is continuing to develop his skills, grow in confidence and make a valued contribution as part of the team.
